Mr. Kevin Dye
Kevin Dye is in his 21st year as a music educator. Mr. Dye, an alumnus of Hendersonville High School, received his Master of Music Degree in Education from Austin Peay State University and his Bachelor of Music Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
Mr. Dye currently serves as Director of Bands at Hawkins Middle School in Hendersonville, TN, and he assists with the HHS Marching Band. Most recently he served as Director of Bands at Thurgood Marshall Middle School in Nashville, TN where he started the band program. Prior to coming to Thurgood Marshall, he served as Director of Bands at Gallatin High School. While at Gallatin High School, the band consistently received superior ratings in both marching and concert band, receiving the Tennessee Bandmasters Association Sweepstakes award numerous times. Under his direction, the band successfully performed multiple times at the TMEA State Concert Festival. The Governor’s School for the Arts has recognized Mr. Dye as an Outstanding Teacher. In 2011, Mr. Dye conducted the All-Mid-State Junior High Silver Band.
Mr. Dye is an active member of many professional organizations including Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, National Association for Music Education, Tennessee Music Education Association, and American School Band Directors Association. He is also on the Executive Board of the MTSBOA.
